Behind the Song: “Adventurer”

"Adventurer" is a tune that we wrote back in 2024 and it's the second song that was recorded for the new album, Moment in Time. We wanted it to have the vibe of setting off on an exciting journey, and could picture rushing rivers, waterfalls and mountain trails under the summer sun as the "Adventurer" heads off onto the road. But it could really be for any kind of setting, any place where there is that sense of heading into knew and unknown territory (or even doing something you've never done before!)

It went through several iterations before we got to the final version, though. The original name was “Step Onto the Road',” inspired by the quote from the Lord of the Rings when Bilbo Baggins says to Frodo: “You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

But eventually we decided that the name “Adventurer” captured the spirit of both the song and Bilbo’s words together. And it meant it could join the other two instrumentals with “character” names: Healer and Storyteller.

The arrangement we ended up with features an adventurous violin, guitar, strings, octave mandolin, whistles, bodhran and djembe. We hope this instrumental adventure tune (which is out now!) can accompany you on whatever adventures you have planned for this summer!
