Award Watch: Billboard World Music Charts #6

The Gothard Sisters' new all-original album, Midnight Sun, debuted today on Billboard's World Music Chart at #6 in the top ten at the highest ranking debut on the chart.  The chart is calculated through album sales, digital downloads, social media buzz and general popularity of the new music.  The band is absolutely thrilled at this news, and would like to thank everyone who has pre-ordered, purchased or downloaded the new album!

All of this is thanks to fan support and loyal listeners.

This is the second chart appearance for The Gothard Sisters, who operate entirely independently of a record label or promotions agency.  They previously charted at #13 for the release of their 2016 Christmas album, Falling Snow.

Award Watch: Most Popular Celtic Bands of 2017

Marc Gunn's Irish and Celtic Music podcast is one of the earliest supporters of our music, and he and his show continue to play our songs and feature our albums every year.  This time we've made it into his list of the most popular Celtic bands of 2017, and we're glad to be a part of it.  Also mentioned are the lovely Screaming Orphans, Runa, the Elders, We Banjo 3, Barleyjuice and many other great bands and friends.

If you get the chance, check out Marc's podcast and give it a listen.  Every week he puts out a show full of great independent folk and Celtic bands and it's a great podcast.  Listen, share, and subscribe!  Enjoy.

Award Watch: Great American Song Contest

The Gothard Sisters' 2016 single release, instrumental piece "Hummingbird," was recently named a finalist in the Great American Song contest.  Over 1700 songwriters from 42 different countries submit their songs every year to be judged, and the band is honored that their song made the top 20 in the instrumental category.

"Hummingbird" features a fiddle tune accompanied by lilting mandolin, piano, violin and bass accompaniment in an Irish-Americana style.

The Gothard Sisters received the Irish Music Award for Best New Irish Artist, 2014.

It has arrived!  Our Irish Music Award for Best New Irish Artist- and all thanks to you guys!  Thanks so much for taking the time to first nominate us, then vote for us, and thanks also to the fantastic people at the IMAs, who put this event on every year and do good work keeping Irish culture alive through their recognition.

The award itself is gorgeous, made out of Durmast/Sessile white oak and Connemara marble, put together by the Irish Hand.

Thank you once again for voting for us, we are absolutely thrilled and honored and grinning a lot.  :D  We're trying to live up to this award by practicing like crazy for the summer festival shows.  Check the schedule and come and see us at a festival this summer!  It's going to be fun!
