We finished out the 2017 Christmas with the Gothard Sisters tour with a concert at Roosevelt High School in Seattle with the help and support of Anna Edwards and the Seattle Collaborative Orchestra.
The SCO is an interesting and refreshing organization that mixes professional players (in this concert, members of the Seattle string quartet, Skyros Quartet as well as bassist Rose Gear) with advanced student players so that everyone gets a mentor-like experience playing in a real concert setting while learning new and challenging repertoire.
Anna and the SCO also actively support Pacific Northwest composers and musicians, especially female composers, and we were honored to be included in their choices of local musicians and composers that they want to support.
The concert included ten songs with string orchestra, including the world premiere of Willow's Waltz played live - we'd never done it before, if you can imagine! A new song, Midnight Sun, was also played with orchestra for the first time.
I hope to upload several videos from this concert for those who couldn't make it, it was a truly memorable experience for all of us onstage as well as those in the audience, and a great way to finish up this year's Christmas tour!
